Millie C. Pixley

"A resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away on Monday, April 16, 2018, at 2pm at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness at the age of 78. She worked for 25 years at Our Lady of the Lake, retiring from Nursing Administration in 2010. Also in 2010, she received the Mentor of the Year award, the top nursing award in Louisiana. She graduated from Jonesboro Hodge High School in 1957, and received her nursing degree from Loyola University. Millie's last wishes were to include extending her desire to thank all of her friends in the nursing profession and otherwise for all of the help offered to her over her professional and private careers. She leaves behind her husband, Charles W. Pixley; her 3 daughters: Callie Michael, Robyn Elise Davidson-Thomas, and Melinda Bruscato and her husband Jody; and her 2 sons: Jonathan Charles Pixley and his wife Donna, and Christopher Wayne Pixley and his wife Cindy. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, as well as her brother, John C. "Jack" Chapman II. She is preceded in death by her parents, John C. Chapman and Mildred Shows Chapman; her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Chapman; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Shows; and her sister, Johnette Chapman Mann. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 2pm until a Celebration of her Life at 3pm, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. A reception will follow her service.
