Born May 1, 1922, in Oak Grove, to Thomas DeLaune and Esther Perdue DeLaune, she was one of nine children. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she died Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. She was 87. Visiting at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Feb. 15, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes on Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 1 p.m. until service at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 52 years, Herbert M. Graves Sr.; three brothers, Mac DeLaune, Wilson DeLaune and Leonard DeLaune; and grandson, Douglas Graves. She was a longtime active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Miriam is survived by five children, Robert Graves, Esther Tillerson, Charlie Graves, Katherine Graves and Herb Graves Jr.; beloved grandchildren, Tara Staglik, Jackie Hyde, Harmony Hobbs, Adam Graves and Cody Graves; great-grandchildren, Louis Staglik, Sybil Staglik, Hudson Hyde and Maverick Hobbs; and siblings, Henry DeLaune, Lil Hernandez, Ray DeLaune, Florence DeLaune, and B.F. DeLaune. She will live in our hearts forever.
