A homemaker and a retired East Baton Rouge Parish school system employee, she died Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2007, at Ochsner Hospital-Baton Rouge. She was 87, a native of Alexandria and a resident of Baton Rouge. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, July 24, from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Huey Moak. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Diane Gill of Baton Rouge; and a son, Fred Gill of Oakland, Calif. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Austin Gill; parents, John Herbert and Emma E. Townley Murphy; sisters, Clara Dean Machost and Viola Munoz; a brother, Jay Murphy and an infant daughter, Caroline. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Suite A, Baton Rouge, LA 70810-1951.
