A retired barber and pipe fitter and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, he died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, 2008, at his home. He was 82 and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Nov. 23, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Monday from 11 a.m. until service at 1 p.m., conducted by Dr. David Womack. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Survived by his wife, Ercelle Dimaio; stepdaughter, Viame Diane Walsh; two sons, L.J. and Nickie Dimaio Jr.; two sisters, Marie Muffoletto and Jo Hebert; grandchildren, Gena and Mark Knaps, Scott and Kandice Dimaio and Joe Tendel Dimaio; and three great-grandchildren, Hunter, Emalea and Cooper. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Lena Romeo Dimaio; and son, David Dimaio. Pallbearers will be Scott Dimaio, Mark Knaps, Joe Cobb, Nickie Charles Dimaio, Joseph Hebert and Michael Noto. Honorary pallbearer is Anthony Noto. He was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and a member of Grand Lodge of Louisiana and Baker Lodge 441. He enjoyed fishing.
