

A retirement management employee of Cargill, Inc. passed from this life at 6:06 am Tuesday, March 3, 2015, in Baton Rouge. He was 82. He, and wife Jo Ann Dillard Shreffler have been residents of Baton Rouge since 1976. Norm Shreffler was born August 28, 1932, in his grandparents' farm home, Limestone Township, Kankakee County, Illinois. He was a graduate of the Shreffler Grade School, Reddick High School and the University of Illinois. In the latter, he earned a B.S. Degree in Agriculture. After receiving a 2nd Lt. Commission from the U.S. Air Force, he proceeded to earn Pilot Wings and was assigned to Strategic Air Command, Carswell Air Force Base, Ft. Worth, Texas. During primary pilot training, May 1955, he and Jo Ann were married in Sabinal, Texas. Upon completion of military service in 1957, Norman chose Cargill, Inc. for his lifetime employer, serving 36 years as grain merchant, branch office and export facility manager, and export coordinator, retiring in 1993. Genealogy ranked high among his hobby interests as were the sports of tennis and golf. Preceding Norman in death, was his father, Fayette E. Shreffler in 1961, and his mother, Leona Davis Shreffler. Surviving is his wife of 59 years: Jo Ann Dillard Shreffler; son: Kerry D. Shreffler of Baton Rouge; daughter: Dawn E. Shreffler Daddario of Nashville, TN; grandchildren: Caleb Dean Shreffler of Baton Rouge, Chandler T. Daddario and Courtney E. Daddario of Nashville, TN. He was a member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church; and a past member of the Kansas City Board of Trade. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, Friday from 2:00 pm until 5:00 pm. Final arrangements will be handled by Schreffler Funeral Home of Kankakee, Illinois. Interment will be in the Shreffler Cemetery in Kankakee County, Illinois. The family would like to thank his care givers, Donna Chenevert and her family, and Sheila McNabb. Honorary pallbearers are Kerry Shreffler, Caleb Shreffler, Nicholas Bourgeois, Dan Daddario and Chandler Daddario. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
