Oscar Guillermo “Billy” Espinosa, 71, resident of Baton Rouge, died on Friday, November 24, 2017 in Baton Rouge surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Havana, Cuba and native of Tuinucu, Cuba. He lived for his two daughters and granddaughter – often spending hours regaling them with stories about growing up in Cuba. He had the most generous and giving heart. He could hold a conversation with just about anyone for hours; it was part of his charm, and you could tell he was always genuinely interested in what you had to say. He was a Mechanical Engineer for over 50 years and spent most of his professional life working at his beloved sugar mills throughout Louisiana and Central and South America. He absolutely loved old cars from the 50s and 60s. His most prized possession was his 1962 red Corvette, which later in life would lead him to joining the Corvette Club of Baton Rouge, a pastime he grew to love in his most recent years. Oscar is survived by his two daughters and son-in-law, Jaclyn Espinosa, Lauren and Brad Heffern; mother of his daughters, Lorena Espinosa; one granddaughter, Penelope June Heffern; beloved man’s best friend (dog) Max; one sister and brother-in-law, Maria Cristina Espinosa and Daniel Fontenot; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Esteban and Miriam Espinosa, Ron and Melanie Espinosa, Carlos and Enelda Espinosa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Augusto and Maria Cristina Martinez Espinosa. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. until Funeral Mass at 3:00 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., New Orleans, La.
