

Philip Eckert, a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on January 22, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on June 12, 1934, to Philip A. Eckert and Elizabeth Bruce Eckert. Philip was a graduate of Catholic High School and Louisiana State University. He proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force. He later retired from the Louisiana State Department of Environmental Quality and was a Man of Manresa. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ursula Prados Richard Eckert; his children, Bruce Eckert (Darlene), Betty Willis (Chris), Bonnie Perrin (Joe), and Brigitte Kron (Edgar); his stepchildren, Ragan Richard (Virginia), Ursula Laville (Thomas), Stephanie Robert, and Jeanne Daniel; and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved dearly. Philip was preceded in death by his first wife, Gay Nell Burnett Eckert; his parents, Philip A. and Elizabeth Eckert; and his brother, Ronnie A. Eckert, and sister-in-law, Nora Lee Eckert. Memorial services will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on January 29, 2026. Visitation will take place from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Catholic High School.
