Rebecca Jeanne Johnstone

Becky was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She especially loved her nieces and nephews and made them feel seen and valued. She loved them all like her own children. Given the opportunity, Becky loved to sing, laugh, share advice, and encourage those around her. She had a great smile, and her laugh was contagious. Her quirky sense of humor could catch you off guard, but you learned to roll with Becky. She was truly one of a kind.

Throughout her life, Becky battled mental illness. We don't understand why, but we leave this with our LORD who is all wise. Regardless of her struggle, Becky grew a kind and gentle heart that was full of thankfulness. She would often say that her “cup runneth over” for even the smallest gestures. She took time to close her eyes and pray to her Father in Heaven. She said that “if you don’t know what to do, ask God to show you His will for you”.

We are thankful to Him for these last days spent with Becky. God placed a joy in her heart that you could see in her smile. When reading the story about the Good Shepherd, she interrupted and said “that’s Jesus Christ!”. She is with her Good Shepherd now. We are grateful that in His mercy she did not struggle with any pain. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.

Rebecca is survived by her sister, Teri Verkaik (James); her brothers, Stewart Johnstone and Richard Johnstone (Cindy); as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Allan MacKenzie Johnstone, her mother, Violet Nash Johnstone and her brother, Walter MacKenzie Johnstone.

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA on Saturday, March 19, 2022 from 1 pm until funeral service at 2 pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.

We want to express our thankfulness to Kelly and the nursing staff at St. Francisville Country Manor, and Becky’s roommate Marie for the love and care given to her while living there. We are also thankful to Emily and the A-team Roper Hospice staff for their kind support and care.
