She will be remembered most for her faith and the beautiful ways that she loved people; from her friends, family and those at church to strangers struggling on the street.
“Hate the sin, not the sinner.”, she used to say, and it was something she lived by. She wore her heart on her sleeve.
Her faith could move mountains. The worn-out, red Bible she studied still has all her notations.
She was a Conservative in every sense, and a Patriot who really loved her country and the U.S. Military.
She could be seen outside decorating for every event and took pride in her work; there’s not anything she couldn’t do or figure out.
Her laughter and sense of humor were contagious. She was quirky and could shock you at any time, dancing or trying to embarrass you.
She loved animals, and once as a leader at a girl’s camp in Colorado, she gave a chicken mouth to mouth resuscitation and revived the chicken! She had a miniature Dachshund she cherished for 15 years, “Rascal”, and that he was.
She had a relentless spirit. “No, you can’t” meant “Ok, I’ll find a way”. She once told an uncle she could fit his horse in her station wagon because she wanted him so bad, and she tried.
She spent part of her life as a homemaker, but she was not short on acquiring degrees. She excelled in Accounting, Architectural Design, Property Inspection, Cosmetology, Hospital Unit Assistance, Child Protection Services (Texas), Camp Counseling for troubled teens, Youth Directing, Avon Consulting, Church Counseling…the list could go on and on about things she did and could do.
She was a great mother, teaching her children to never settle and that anything was possible, allowing them to become all they could be and supporting them in every direction.
She was a leader, a comforter, a friend and a humanitarian.
Becky graduated from Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, LA in 1976. After marrying a Youth Director from Texas, she had two children and moved to a small town where she and her husband became ranchers. She loved her life, and even though her life changed direction, she took it with a grain of salt. Finding herself single again, she moved to Colorado to experience something new, work with animals and lead young, troubled girls onto a different path. She missed the south, so she found herself in Louisiana again, where she soon crossed paths with an old high school friend, James “Jimmy” Dufore. She married and had a great life with him for 16 years in Mandeville, LA until early onset dementia took her memories from her.
She would want to be remembered as a fun loving, easy going, Conservative, Christian woman who enjoyed life and never compromised her beliefs.
Becky is survived by her husband, James “Jimmy” Dufore; two children, Sandy Williams and Tammy Williams; two grandchildren, Angela McDugle and Christian McDugle; three great-grandchildren; sister, Mona Flinn; brother, James Head; sister-in-law, Bonnie; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Becky is preceded in death by her father and mother, Clarence & Eunice Head; brother-in-law, Bennie Netherland; sister, Debbie Netherland; and her beloved “Rascal”.
Visitation will be held on October 11, 2025 at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, from 1:00 pm until time of memorial service at 4 pm.
