Rennie Lamar MonroeRennie Lamar Monroe, born December 1, 1948, in Beaumont, Texas, died peacefully May 13, 2016 at OLOL surrounded by his loving family. A resident of Baton Rouge for the past 41 years, he retired from British Petroleum in 1999 and spent the next 14 years traveling the world as an engineering procurement consultant. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ann Mullins Monroe; daughters and sons-in-law, Emily and Kyle Godfrey and Katie and Jeb Barber; grandchildren, Mary Thomas Godfrey, Anna Katherine Godfrey and Sadie Barber; sister, Suzanne Walker; and many other loving relatives and friends. He will be remembered as a strong, quiet man, loving husband, father and grandfather. The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Ryan Shows whose care guided them through this journey. Visitation is at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70802 at noon on Saturday, May 21st, with a service following at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge, 3200 Woodland Ridge Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70816, or The Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.
