Eddie Sulcer, Jr. was born to the late Gladys Banks and the late Eddie Sulcer, Sr. He was baptized at an early age at the Ebenezer Baptist Church by the late Elijah Brown. He was raised by his father, the late Alexander Gibson, Sr. Eddie was a graduate of Scotlandville High School. He later furthered his education and graduated from the Union Theological Seminary in New Orleans, LA. The first church he pastored was the Fontania Baptist Church in Port Hudson, LA. The other churches he pastored were Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church in Plaquemine, LA, Promised Land Baptist church for 10 years, Agape Missionary Baptist Church for 34 years, and Ebenezer Baptist Church for 43 years. Eddie was the Vice President of the A.P. Clay Christian Theological College and in 1999, he was President of the Progressive State Convention. From 2011-2013, he attended the E.K. Bailey Bible Institute. In 1995, he recorded “Thank God for the Storm”, written by his daughter Katrina Sulcer. In 2002, he recorded another CD entitled, “I’m Depending on You Lord to Fix It”, also written by Katrina Sulcer. He recorded his first album entitled, “The Party Is Over”, at the Promised Land Baptist Church. In 2019, he wrote a book entitled, “How and Why the Church Has Lost It’s Focus”. He was also a United States veteran in the U.S. Army. His favorite scripture is 2 Corithians 4:7-9. He leaves to cherish his memories, his devoted wife, Thelma Burrell Sulcer; his God sent daughter, Katrina Kaprice Sulcer; his Christ centered son, Haman Orlando Sulcer; four brothers, Thomas Gibson (Rose), Floyd Gibson, Alexander Gibson, and Andrew Gibson (Dorothy); two sisters, Sandra Sulcer and Linda Montaque; two fraternal brothers, Michael and Donald Ray Sulcer; three grandchildren, Jhane’, Jhalena, and Jhanyla Sulcer; and a host of relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gladys B. Gibson; his father, Eddie Sulcer, Sr.; his father, Alexander Gibson, Sr.; his sister, Caroline Irvin; and his fraternal brother, Anthony Sulcer. Visitation will be held at Redemption Life Fellowship, 2400 Debra Dr., Baker, LA, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, from 8am until the time of funeral services at 11am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA.
