
A native of Dallas, he passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 83 and a retired Realtor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. Visitation will be at the Chapel on the Campus, 3355 Dalrymple Drive, on Monday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. until funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery, Zachary. He is survived by his wife, Thelma McDowell, of Baton Rouge; daughter, Lauryn Crouch and her husband, Allen, of Noxapater, Miss.; son, Richard "Rick" McDowell and his wife, Holly, of Baton Rouge; four grandchildren, Patrick Michaelson and his wife, Haaga, Molly Truesdale and her husband, Ryan, Caleb Michaelson and Seth Michaelson; great-grandson, Knox Michaelson; and son-in-law, Freddie Michaelson and his wife, Jodi, of Baton Rouge. Preceded in death by his daughter, Sharyn Michaelson; grandson, Austin Crouch; parents, William and Ruth McDowell; three brothers, Robert, Don and Gene McDowell; and father-in-law, Russell Thompson. Pallbearers will be Freddie Michaelson, Patrick Michaelson, Caleb Michaelson, Seth Michaelson, Allen Crouch and Ryan Truesdale. Honorary pallbearers are Mike Moyer, Bob Lister, Frank Fasullo and William Rader. He was a member of the Chapel on the Campus, past president of the Baton Rouge Board of Realtors and was a member of the Civil War Roundtable.
