A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Addis, he passed away Sunday, May 24, 2009, at the Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jackson. He was 87, a retired superintendent of the press room at the State-Times/Morning Advocate, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a parishioner of St. George Catholic Church for 30 years where he served as a sacristan. He is survived by his stepdaughter, Toni Marie Chastant; brothers, Jack and Lennie Munson; sister, Myrt Borskey; granddaughter, Sierra Lynn Chastant; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Munson was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Munson; second wife, Rosina Sansone Munson; brother, James Munson; and parents, Ryan and Isabella Munson. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, May 28, from 10 a.m. until religious service at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Frederick Augustine. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Jacob Chastant, Frederick Augustine, Ronald Sharon, Ray Ashford, Vincent Paul Ashford and Joseph Augustine.
