"Robert Lee "Hambone" Hamilton passed away unexpectedly over the holidays. He was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and LSU, and retired from a long career in the Louisiana Department of Transportation. He was an avid LSU fan and was passionate about live, local music. He was very generous, and gave countless charitable services to anyone in need. He is survived by: his son, Zach Hamilton; several cousins; and many beloved friends. He was preceded in death by: his father, Robert L. Hamilton, Sr.; his mother, Myrtle Hamilton; his sister, Carol Ann Hamilton; and his closest confidant, Dale Richard. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 28 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Saturday, December 29, at 2:00 pm until a memorial service to be held at 3:00 pm. A reception will follow the service. He will later be interred along with his family at the Wesson Cemetery in Wesson, MS. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics Louisiana, or to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank.
