Robert Lee Kleinpeter

Robert Lee "Rob" Kleinpeter, III, a seventh generation and lifelong resident of East Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana, died suddenly Friday, June 19, 2015, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 62 years old. He was born on May 24, 1953. He was the first of Robert and Faye (Hamilton) Kleinpeter's seven children. He graduated Catholic High School in 1972 and went on to work for Rebel Electric for several years before starting his own company, K&N Electric, which he operated until the time of his death. He enjoyed time on his sport fishing and cruising boat with his family and friends at Marina Beau Chêne in Mandeville, LA. After the death of his father, Robert Jr., he also managed the beef cattle farm that the family maintains in Sunshine, La., and enjoyed carrying on the tradition along with his son, Lee. He was instrumental in transitioning the family farm in EBR from agricultural production into a traditional neighborhood development, The Settlement at Willow Grove while maintaining its character and traditions. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and encouraged others to join. He enjoyed life and maintained many life-long friendships. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor and will be sorely missed. Rob is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sherri Copponex Kleinpeter; a son, Robert "Lee" Kleinpeter IV and his fiancée, Tiffany Breaux; his mother, Beverly Faye Kleinpeter Ramirez, and six siblings; Greg and wife, Donna; David and wife, Wendy; Carl and wife, Brigitte; Brian; Amy and husband, Wes Grissom, Laurie and husband, Duke Laville; and his brothers and sisters-in law, Gregory and Elaine (Deville) Copponex, Keith and Teri (Roy) Copponex, Bart and Teri (Perry) Copponex, Charmagne Copponex Sagona and her husband Paul Sagona, Clint Copponex and Missy Perry. He had numerous nieces and nephews including Tom (fiancée, Taylor Salsbury), Matt, Beth, Dustin (wife, Adel), Jordan, Michael (wife, Stephanie), Kari and Chloe Kleinpeter, Claire Kleinpeter Weisse (husband, Lambert), Joshua Henderson, Alli Landry, Garrett and Kaitlyn Grissom, Henry, Hannah and Louis Laville, Sara Caruso Jones (husband Bryan and their sons, Jude and Jesse), as well as Cody (wife Alyse) Drew, Audry, Christian, Caroline, and Cameron Copponex and Benjamin Sagona (wife Lauren), Samantha Sagona Tiblier (husband Yancy), and Keri Copponex Mullen (husband William) and his beloved canine companion, Ruger. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lee Kleinpeter, Jr.; grandparents, Rob and Carrie (Nowell) Kleinpeter and Herbert and Bea (Templet) Hamilton and his in-laws, Freddy and Catherine (Decoteau) Copponex. Pallbearers will be Greg, David, Carl, and Brian Kleinpeter, Dale Baringer, and Jimmy Alessi. Honorary Pallbearers will be Brother Eldon Crifasi, Richard Carmouche, and Sid Blanchard. Visitation will take place at Rabenhorst Downtown, 825 Government Street, Wednesday, June 24, from 10:00 a.m. until services at 12 noon. Burial will follow in the Kleinpeter Family Cemetery on Lane's End located in "The Settlement at Willow Grove", off Perkins Road. Parking will be available at The Dunham School.
