Robert George Wand, 88, a native of Brookhaven, MS and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2014. A loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in World War II and worked for Chevron Corporation for over 30 years. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Robbie Valentine Wand; children: Robert “Bert” Wand, James Nash Wand and wife Sandra, and Nancy Wand Polwort and husband Spencer; grandchildren: Emily Kate Dilley and husband Bryan, Robert Benjamin Ward, Carrie Lee Wand, Joel Nash Wand, Regan Miranda Polwort, and Jacob Neil Wand; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his daughter Kay Valentine Wand; parents Otto and Mary Wand; and brothers Floyd and Clifford Wand. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, September 21, 2014 from 1pm until service time at 3pm. Interment will be held at Easthaven Cemetery in Brookhaven, MS on Monday, September 22, 2014 at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or to the American Cancer Society.
