Mr. Ronald Gale "Ron" Harlow, Sr., age 91, lost a courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, November 12, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Harlow, a man of deep faith, said that he was at peace, because he knew his identical twin brother, Donald Dale Harlow, Sr., would be waiting for him. Mr. Harlow was a man of great integrity, and a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was born on May 18, 1924, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Clarence and Viola Harlow. In 1948, Mr. Harlow met the love of his life, Gloria Julian Sallinger. On June 15, 1952, the two were wed in Baton Rouge and began a long and happy married life together of 63 years. The couple had two lucky children, son Ronald Gale Harlow, Jr. (Carol) and daughter Judy Gale Harlow (Woody Carlson). Ron, Jr., and Judy will never forget their Dad's love and guidance. Mr. Harlow also enjoyed time with his grandson, Alex Russell, a host of special nieces and nephews, other family members, and many good friends. Mr. Harlow had a strong work ethic, resulting in a long and productive work life. He served his country in World War II, and loved his country dearly for the rest of his years. After serving his country, Mr. Harlow had a small farm in Indiana, and then moved to Louisiana to be with his twin brother. Now in Baton Rouge, he worked for JC Penney, followed by 37 years in sales and management with Prudential Insurance in Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and Ponchatoula. Mr. Harlow then spent many happy years at Mid-South Transportation, only recently retiring at age 90. Mr. Harlow was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Viola Harlow, loving sisters Rena Bedwell (Bid) and Patricia Ragsdale (Leland), and beloved twin brother Donald Harlow, Sr. (Ethel), as well as nephews Marvin Bedwell and Donald Dale Harlow, Jr. (Donna). Mr. Harlow was an active member of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank his friends at Broadmoor, especially the Lamplighters Sunday School Class, and Rev. Ken Carroll, for their loving support during this difficult time. Thanks also to Drs. Bienvenu, Hastings, and Moraes; special niece Glenda Keegan, and the nurses of Audubon Hospice for their compassionate care. Family and friends are invited to share in a celebration of Mr. Harlow's life, beginning with a wake at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd on Monday, November 16, 2015 from 5:00 "“ 8:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 "“ 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 17, at Broadmoor Methodist Church, followed by funeral services at 11:00 am.
