

ROSE SANTANGELO CEFALU, a native of New Orleans and resident of Baton Rouge passed away on March 28, 2014. She was 87. She is survived by her four daughters, Bridget Cefalu, Mary Barker (Marc), Lucia Dilg (Thomas) and Jeana Cefalu. Four grandchildren, Branden and Brock Barker, Tony and PFC Michael Dilg, USMC. Her two great-grandchildren, Logan and Julia Barker, also many nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Samuel J. Cefalu, her parents, Vito and Rose Santangelo, her sister, Louise Santangelo and brother, Dr. Anthony Joseph Santangelo.She attended Eleanor McMain High School and Dominican College in New Orleans. She graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics in 1949 and a Master’s Degree in 1970. Rose was a member of the Krewe of Grela and Krewe of Prometheus New Orleans, the Baton Rouge Woman’s Auxiliary to the Sixth District Dental Association, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, and also served as Director of the First Presbyterian Church Pre-School in Baton Rouge. She was an outstanding cook, seamstress and also enjoyed gardening. Visitation will be at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Wednesday, April 2 from 9:00 – 10:30.a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. with Father Cleo Milano as Celebrant. Pallbearers will be Marc Barker, Branden Barker, Brock Barker, Thomas Dilg, Tony Dilg, PFC Michael Dilg, Joe Cefalu, Chris Cefalu ,Tony Santangelo and Gordon Jones.
