"Our dearly beloved mother Rose Mary Landry Millet passed from this life into the gentle arms of her heavenly Father on Sunday April 23, 2017 at The Carpenter House, in the care of St. Joseph Hospice, at the blessed age of 96. Rose Mary was born June 3, 1920 in Baton Rouge. She was a 1938 graduate of St. Joseph Academy and from that training learned to live her life with deep faith in God, dignity and grace. She married the love of her life, Earl Simon Millet, Sr. February 14, 1941and shared 62 years of marriage at the time of his death, September 6, 2003. Rose Mary was a dear and loving wife, an amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was best known for her loyal devotion to her Catholic faith, her steadfast dedication to family, especially all the years she cared for her aging mother while raising her eight children. Her greatest passion was preparing enjoyable meals to serve family and most welcomed guests. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing Tripoly and Pokeno with the gals, and fishing with Earl at their camp on False River. After her youngest child entered first grade she found time to work outside the home and gave quality service to the La. Dept. of Labor and City Parish Government. She was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church for 63 years, and also belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus Council 2807. At present she was a member of St. Louis King of France Catholic Church and Ladies Altar Society. While we sorely grieve her loss, we rejoice that she is free of a body that could no longer communicate her elegance, laughter and dignity. She leaves behind four generations to cherish her memory: Seven of her eight children and spouses; daughter-in-law Shirley Landry Millet, who was married to her oldest child Earl S. "Mickey" Millet, Jr.; Jacqueline Ann M. and Michael Burris; Clarence Paul and Vonda Strickland Millet; Rose Marie M. and Earl "Jerry" Cronin, Jr.; Trudy M. and Thomas W. Slaughter, Sr.; David Wayne and Celine Guidry Millet; Carl Ovide and Elizabeth " Beth" Schroll Millet; and the caboose Lillie M. and Gerald C. "Jerry" Crochet; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. She also has 13 step-grandchildren, and 18 step-great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two godchildren, Prudence Ann Landry Konikoff and Linda Ann Bridges Carlton, who were so faithful in visiting her all through the years and many, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl, her oldest son Mickey, devoted parents, Elmo James and Mary Ida Keller Landry; four brothers Prudent Mire "P.M." Landry, Donald Joseph Landry, Elmo James Landry, Jr. and Carl Ovide Landry; three sisters, Marjorie L. Dugas, Madeline L. Eastin and Ida Mae L. Bridges; one grandchild, Clarence Paul Millet Jr.; one great-grandchild Matthew Logan Millet, one daughter-in-law, Janith "Pie" Talbot Millet. The family would especially like to thank Doctors J. David West, Fred H. Petty and Arthur E. Hess, who showed great love and compassion to our Mother, loving caregivers Lisa Ravencraft and Adris Anderson, and lastly the exceptional love and care by Trig Olson and his nurses and staff at The Carpenter House, who were truly devoted to Mother's well-being and our peace of mind. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 1100 Florida Boulevard Tuesday April 25, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 PM by St. Louis Ladies Altar Society. Visitation will continue Wednesday April 26, 2017 at St. Louis King of France Catholic Church from 11:00 AM until Mass of Christian burial at 12:30PM, celebrated by Reverend Charles Landry, along with Deacon Ricky Patterson. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Tom Slaughter, Clarence Paul, David, Carl, Wade and Christopher Millet.
