

A native of DeValls Bluff, Ark., and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Dr. Roy Forrest "Skee" Hill, Jr. passed away on January 10th at the age of 94. Skee loved life and truly lived each day to the fullest. He was a people person who enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, painting and traveling with his many friends. He was valedictorian of his class at DeValls Bluff High School and continued his education at the University of Arkansas, where he received B.S. and M.D. degrees. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Phi Beta Pi Medical Fraternity, First Presbyterian Church, East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Society, American Physicians Art Association, American Society of Anesthesiologists and the University of Arkansas Alumni Association. He was a captain in the U.S. Army and served his country in the medical corps while based at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Tex. It was during his residency in Columbus, Ga., that he met and married the love of his life, Dale Newsom. Skee is predeceased by his loving wife Dale, his parents Roy and Pearl Hill and two sisters, Mary Louise Hill and Patricia Hill Craig. He is survived by his three daughters, Jo Dale Ales and Jan Waguespack (Barry) of Baton Rouge, and Jennifer Boylan (Rusty) of Birmingham, Ala.; and seven grandchildren including Elizabeth Nolan (Norman), Laura Guillen (Joe), John Forrest Ales, Emily Mayo (Jake), Mathew Waguespack (Elizabeth), Brooks Boylan and Robert Forrest Boylan. Skee Boy is also survived by 10 great grandchildren: Anthony, Victoria, Josephine, Norman, Alexandra and Augusta Nolan, Rex and Owen Guillen, and Hill and Molly Mayo. Service will be held Wednesday, January 13th at the Dunham Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 763 North Boulevard. Visitation will be at 9 a.m. until a service at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests gifts be made in Dr. Hill's honor to the Arkansas Alumni Association or McMains Children's Developmental Center.
