

Ruth Branch Zipperer, a native of Savannah, Georgia, was born November 13th, 1919 but lived most of her adult life in New Orleans, Bogalusa, and Baton Rouge. Ruth slipped away to eternal rest March 12, 2013 at the Carpenter House Hospice Facility at the age of 93. She was preceded in death by her husband of more than 50 years, Johnie E. Branch Jr., Attorney; and her seven siblings. Ruth worked in sales for years, but is noted for her sales in clothing, jewelry and furniture. She loved her church groups, collecting antiques, cooking, arranging flowers, playing bridge and travelling with friends and family both in the U.S. and abroad. Her extended family, her church circle, her three bridge groups, antique collecting friends, and exercise friends were her treasures. She is survived by one son, Stephen M. Branch and wife Joni, and grandsons, Thomas M. Branch and Conner Freeman of Morgan Hill, California; daughter, Carol B. Baughman and her husband Allen of Los Gatos, California, and grandchildren Linda Newman, Carol Jean Hutchings, and Edward Daray, and great grandchildren, Luke from Colorado, Jessica, Daniel, Emily, Charles and Alexandra from California; daughter, Emily B. Young and husband Allen of Prairieville, Louisiana, granddaughter, Allison Y. Morrison of Roanoke, Virginia, and great granddaughters Jolie and Chelsea of Virginia; Ruth had three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She spent many hours during her last days with her special friends Patricia Golembiewski. She also cherished her visits from her niece, Patricia Colson from Gulfport. A Memorial service will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 2pm in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cancer Society or the Broadmoor Presbyterian Church in her name.
