In 1976, Shirley opened the famous Happy Note Lounge off of Florida Boulevard. The Happy Note quickly became a local institution but more importantly became a home away from home for so many. Shirley was a beautiful person who was not only hardworking, but generous in everything she did. Her devotion to her friends and family was unwavering. Shirley was also a lover of all animals, but especially her dogs. Most would joke that if they came back in another life, they would want to come back as one of her pets.
Shirley lived an incredible life full of laughter, wonderful memories with friends, and all things sparkly, but what she deemed most important was her faith in God.
Shirley is survived by her loving sons, Sam Bryant Jr. (Terry) and Alan Bryant (Kathy); her two granddaughters, Sally Anne Spence and Katelyn Bryant; her two great-grandchildren, Jacie Spence and Jonathan “Nathan” Spence; her sister, Billie Wissner; and numerous nieces and nephews along with friends who became family. Preceded in death by her husband, SJ Bryant; her parents, Elmer Parsons and Fannie Joe Page; and her brother, Ray Parsons.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
