Shirley Lee Ross, 78, a resident of Clinton, La., who was born in Jackson, Mississippi and raised in Byram, Mississippi, went home to be with Jesus and her beloved husband, Gerald W.Ross, late Monday evening surrounded by her loving family. After graduation, she married her high school sweetheart and became an avid homemaker. For more than twenty years, she not only cared for her own children, but provided in-home child care for other families. This was a true testament to her love of caregiving and kids. As a former homecoming queen, cheerleader, and best-dressed alum, Mrs. Shirley wasn't your typical fashionista. She was a rollercoaster-riding, football-loving firecracker. Although small in stature and often referred to as "Shorty George", she was quiet in voice, but you could find her loudly cheering on her LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints during football season. She was very involved with her children during their formative years and was a dedicated Broadmoor Buccaneer football booster member and could be found every Friday night watching her boys play football. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed while remaining in our hearts forever. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., 10-3 pm Saturday July 26, 2014, followed by a religious service at 3pm. Interment will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park following the service. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Mark&Kim Ross of Brandon Mississippi, Gerald W. "Jerry" and Charlene Ross of Clinton, La., Jeff&K.C. Ross of Baton Rouge, La., and Jason&Jeni Ross of Baton Rouge, LA.; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeremy&Tiffany Ross; grandchildren Kacie Ross, Cody Ross, Madeline Ross and Lincoln Ross; great-grandsons Gavin Ross&Mason Ross; her sister, Billie June Lucky; brother Jimmy Lee; and several nieces and nephews.
