Shirley S. Ward, a native of Monroe and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, at age 75. Mrs. Ward retired from BellSouth with 43 years of service. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Jan. 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation continues on Tuesday, Jan. 18, from 9 a.m. until funeral service in the chapel at 10 a.m., conducted by Chaplain Barry Lagg. Burial to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Stanley Ward; daughter, Jannese Lumsden; stepdaughter, Debra Ann Ward; three grandchildren, Reagan Johnson, Heather Hudson and Ryan Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Tegan and Adrienne Johnson. Preceded in death by her parents, Birl and Murial Schossow; sister, Donnie Rylee; and stepson, James Ward. The family wishes to express their appreciation to her caregivers Annette, Lisa and Esther for the loving care given Mrs. Ward.
