
Sterling David Forbes, 22, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, died Saturday, May 16, 2009 at False River. Sterling was a graduate of Northeast High School and a culinary student at Louisiana Technical College. Sterling was a stranger to no one, a young man with an "old soul." He loved hunting, fishing and especially any activity done at False River, in the water or on the land. He greeted everyone with his infectious smile. As a young man, Sterling possessed qualities and characteristics that all men desired to have. He is survived by his mother, Michele Dillon Forbes; father and stepmother, David and Cissy Forbes; sister, Margaret Leigh Forbes; maternal grandmother, Margaret Sue Dozier, of Learned, Miss.; paternal grandparents, Don and Myra Forbes and Betty Wendt; aunts and uncles, Tanya Dillon, the Rev. Tommy Dillon, San Francisco, Robert Hugh and Dawn Dozier, Ridgeland, Miss., Kimberly and Allen Hollingsworth, Don and Maggie Forbes, Charlane and Bill Clattenberg, and Joe D. Forbes; and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Tom and Linda Dillon. Honorary pallbearers are Brian Boudreaux, John Buckman, Joe D. Forbes, James Jenkins IV, Randy Lowry, Bryan Lummen, Coy Redmond, Cody Smith, Gary Reeves, Lt. Dan, and Ms. Julie Carlisle. Visiting at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Pope Hall, 8833 Goodwood Blvd., on Thursday, May 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting continues at the church hall on Friday, May 22, from 11 a.m. until religious service in the sanctuary at 1 p.m., conducted by his uncle, the Rev. Tommy Dillon, and the Rev. Brien Koehler. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to Volunteers of America of Greater Baton Rouge.
