Susan was born in Wellington, Texas, in 1951, and raised in the Fort Worth, Texas, area. In 1976, she moved to Baton Rouge, where she met her future husband, Edgar ÒEdÓ Landry. They were married in 1978 and the following year, had a baby girl named Lisa Marie Landry. In 1982, they had another baby girl, Jamie Lynn Landry. Both still reside in the city. While raising her girls, Susan found that she had more talents than she was aware of. She began serving her church by teaching Bible study. Later, she would teach herself to repair computers and would do so for autistic children. Her real calling was as an advocate for children with disabilities. She tutored many and served on multiple boards. In 1995, doctors began to find out she had multiple serious illnesses, which challenged her until her death Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011. Susan will continue to be loved by her husband and daughters, her family in Texas and Louisiana, and a host of friends who loved her dearly. Visiting will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Sunday, Aug. 14, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held at a later date. The Landry family would like to thank Dr. Frederick Billings, Dr. Jed Morris, Dr. Tina Wells and staff, the entire 5th floor staff of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, St. George Fire Station 64 and the angels who work at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice.
