Teleda Whittington

Teleda Jane Campbell Whittington, 74, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana passed away, June 2, 2023. She was born in Baton Rouge, LA, on September 16, 1948. Teleda graduated from Lee High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana Tech University. She was married to William Frank Whittington Sr. for 49 years until his passing three years ago.

Teleda was an artist and enjoyed painting special places, people, and pets for friends and family. She has been a member of First Baptist Church since she was born. Teleda worked for Herbert Benjamin in advertising and Lincoln Big Three until she followed her true calling to become a full-time mom and shower her family with fun and love. Some of her favorite activities were painting, singing in the choir at church, playing Pokeno with her friends, and traveling to see family. However, her favorite was watching her children and her grandchildren grow up.

She is survived by her daughter Heather Roberts and husband Ritch, her son Will Whittington and wife Sarah, and her daughter Janie Page and husband Justin. She was a proud Yaya “grandmother” to Libby, Chloe, and David Roberts, Emma Claire and Lily Whittington, and Sadie, Bo, and Anna Page. She is also survived by her sister Lounelle Black, nieces, Rachel Caudle and Charlotte McCurry; nephew, Joe Whittington; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hughes; and brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Ott Whittington.

Teleda was preceded in death by her husband, William Frank Whittington Sr., her father and mother, Ed and Bettye Campbell, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Etta Whittington and her brother-in-law, Charles Black and her nephews Jim and Sam Whittington.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Camp Boggy Creek (www.boggycreek.org/donate), a camp for children with serious illness, in honor of her grandson, Bo, who battles epilepsy. A visitation will be held on June 11, 2023 from 1:00 pm-2:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge with a memorial service to begin at 2:00 pm at the church.
