after a courageous 2.5-year battle with cancer on November 16, 2025.
Thomas was born on July 10, 1962 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force,
he served from 1980 to 1982 and carried deep respect for those who served alongside him. He was preceded in
death by his cherished grandparents and his parents, Mr. Gerald L. Marino and Mrs. Bernadette Thibodeaux
Marino.
Thomas’s gifts were extraordinary from the start. A true prodigy in pyrotechnics, technology automation, and
mechanical design, he possessed the rare ability to turn raw ideas into fully realized systems. His mastery
spanned electronics, mechanics, audio-video engineering, and custom control solutions, and his talent felt
almost instinctive.
Driven by this natural ability and a constant desire to learn, Thomas founded Advanced Technologies of
Baton Rouge, where he became known as a visionary technical innovator. His award-winning work became
known not only for technical precision, but also for the artistry, creativity, and care he brought to every
project.
He and his company earned recognition as one of the most award-winning firms in the state, receiving honors
from CEA, CTA, CEDIA, and other industry organizations. Whether engineering a complex control system for
a 40,000 square foot property or solving a problem no one else could unravel, Thomas approached everything
with brilliance, humility, and integrity. His work lives on in countless homes and businesses, as well as in the
people he mentored along the way.
Thomas was deeply devoted to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Ponzoli; his step-children
Joshua Nagelberg (Tamara), Jessica Commander (CJ), Alexander Nagelberg (Allison), and Jonah
Nagelberg (Jee); and his grandchildren Charles, William, Juliette, and Tessa, who brought him tremendous
joy. He is also survived by his sister Theresa, his brother Jay (Susan), and many beloved in-laws, cousins,
nephews, nieces, and friends.
Thomas will be remembered for his humor, patriotism, excellent cooking, his unwavering love for his family
and pets, his faith, and his ability to create beauty and innovation from the simplest tools. Those who knew
him will carry his memory forward with gratitude and pride.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heart of Hospice for their compassion, support, and
care during his final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation (CCF) in Thomas’s
memory.
