
A native of Maringouin, he died at 4 a.m. Monday, July 20, 2009, at his residence in Denham Springs at the age of 83. He was a retired employee of Ethyl Corp. and the Livingston Parish School Board. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, with a recitation of the rosary. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Denham Springs, from 11 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at noon, with the Rev. Frank M. Uter, celebrant. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery, Denham Springs. Survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Roppolo Pitslata; daughter, Mary Frances Cambre and husband Paul; son, Tony Pitslata Jr.; four grandchildren, Jude Anthony Cambre and wife Mary, Damian Paul Cambre and wife Jeri, Ashley Nicole Munson and Addie Marie Pena; and six great-grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth Cambre, Jude Edward Cambre, Keegan Paul Cambre, Kody Wayne Munson, Peyton Munson and Isabella Dykes. Preceded in death by his parents, Antonino and Francesca Pasquale Pitslata; and eight brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Jude Cambre, Damian Cambre, Chris Davison, Phillip Pitslata Jr., Mike Pitslata Jr. and Brian Edwards. Honorary pallbearers are Bobbie Davison, Nick Rockforte, Nick Roppolo, Mike Militello, Roy Canezaro and V.J. Roppolo. He was an avid hunter and loved baseball.
