Born Oct. 23, 1937, in Pollack and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she died 12:35 a.m. Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center after a brief bout with cancer. She was a retired licensed practical nurse with LSU Earl K. Long Medical Center. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, May 30, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and in the chapel on Thursday from 9 a.m. until religious service at noon, conducted by the Revs. Fred Youngs and Steve Johnson. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Survived by her husband, retired Baton Rouge police Capt. Sidney Mack Jr.; three sons, Carl Barcelona and Sidney B. Mack III, both of Baton Rouge, and Jeff Barcelona, Pierre Part; daughter, Donna Barcelona, Baton Rouge; stepdaughters, Lisa Mack Burton and Marvalyn Alexandra, both of Baton Rouge; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also survived by special friends, Glen and LeRoy Welch, Chris and Mary Shu, Pansy Wells and Clarence and Violet Whiteside. Pallbearers will be Travis Bonaventure, Gregory Gros, Joseph Welch, Lane Ashford, Thomas Page and Antonio Enime. Preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Ashford of Greenwell Springs; and daughter, Loretta Barcelona Gros of Baton Rouge. Her family would like to express sincere thanks to the physicians and staff of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center R.C.U. for their help and compassion during their time of need.
