

Mrs. Ulda Viego Elizondo passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2015 to be with the Lord and her beloved husband of 24 years, Hector Raul. Born in Havana, Cuba on July 30, 1927, Ulda immigrated to the United States in 1961 with her family. Called “Baba” by her children, Ulda became a U.S. citizen with a strong love of America and freedom. Mrs. Ulda worked at Dillards over 25 years until age 80. She is preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, and three brothers. She is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Vivian and Ron Patterson of Prairieville, Ivette and Sam Sweeney of Dallas and Beatriz and Michael Ross of Watson, La. She is also survived by five grandchildren and their spouses: Patrick McCune, Gwen and Mike Sims, David and Pamela Sweeney, Stephen and Erika Sweeney, and Daniel and Nicole Ross; great-grandchildren include Miss Brooke Thomas, David Sims, Emma and Isaac Ross, Chelsea and Christian Jordan and Misses Julia and Marie Sweeney. Christian Jordan is her one great great grandchild. “Baba’s” legacy as a fierce fighter and survivor for her family, faith and feisty spirit will always be remembered.
There will be a Rosary at 9am and Mass of Christian burial at 10am, On Friday, May 8, 2015 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, La. Interment will be held at 2pm at Lakelawn Cemetery in New Orleans.
