
Born Jan. 26, 1931, in Baton Rouge, she died Sunday, July 4, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 78 and a retired telephone operator. Survived by her husband of 52 years, Ralph Guthrie, of Baton Rouge; three sons, Greg Guthrie and his wife, Alondra, of Canton, Ga., Terry Guthrie and his wife, Jana, of Baton Rouge, and Eric Guthrie, of Dallas; and five grandchildren, Stephanie, Amanda and Ryan Guthrie, all of Canton, and Heather and Robert Guthrie, both of Baton Rouge. Also survived by a sister, Theresa Herrington, Baton Rouge; and a brother and sister-in-law, Edward Jr. and Marilyn Bourgeois, of Baton Rouge; cousin, Myrtis Rogers, of Baton Rouge; and close friends, Linda Landry, of Baton Rouge, and Errol Miller, of Dallas. Preceded in death by her parents, Lena and Edward Bourgeois Sr.; brother, James Bourgeois; and sister, Dorothy Walton. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Monday, July 6, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 12424 Brogdon Lane, on Tuesday from 9:15 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Jerry Martin, celebrant. Graveside service at Port Hudson National Cemetery on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Guthrie, Robert Guthrie, Errol Miller, Michael Landry, Chad Yantis and Jim Altazin. "Ms. Vee" was devoted to her pets, namely her 29-year-old parrot, Chico, and an avid fan of the "Young and Restless." She also tuned in faithfully to watch Mother Angelica and prayed the rosary daily. She enjoyed telling stories to her grandson, Robert, who loved listening to his "Angel Grandma."
