
Virgie Watson Horton, 88, resident of Central, LA, died of natural causes Friday, August 17, 2012. Virgie was born September 18, 1923, in Greensburg, LA, to Daniel Seaton Watson and Addie Ophelia Lindsey Watson. She was born the fifth of eight children: William (Willie), Mamie, Jules, William (Neal), Virgie, Joel, Doris, and Lloyd, but outlived them all, with Lois, wife of Joel, as the only surviving spouse of her siblings. Virgie married William Crockett Horton February 5, 1949, at First Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. Virgie graduated from Greensburg High School. She retired from food service at Bellingrath Hills Elementary in Baton Rouge, LA. Virgie was a member of Zoar Baptist Church for over 45 years. Her greatest joys included worshipping the Lord, spending time with her family and friends, and traveling. She has traveled with her family or with church groups to China, Russia, Great Britain, Belgium, various states from the East Coast to the West Coast, including Hawaii, but she never made it to Alaska. Survived by her daughter, Valerie and her son, William (Bill) and his wife, Catherine, and their three children Joshua, Matthew and Ruth and her grandson-in-law, James, and her two greatgrandchildren Joseph and Elizabeth. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst East located at 11000 Florida Blvd, in Baton Rouge, LA, Sunday, Aug 19, 2012, 5:00pm - 8:00pm. Visiting resumes at Zoar Baptist Church located at 11848 Hooper Rd, Central, LA, Monday, Aug 20, 2012, 9:00am - 10:00am followed by the funeral service at 10:00 am, and then graveside service at Roselawn Cemetery located at 4045 North Street Baton Rouge, LA. Memorial donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or Compassion International. Loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
