
W.G. "Bill" Comeaux, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, passed away Friday, March 6, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center. A native of Baton Rouge and a 20-year resident of Wilson, Bill was a graduate of Baton Rouge High, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy, a licensed commercial pilot, held a U.S. patent for an invention and a longtime member and former chairman of the Louisiana Television and Radio Technicians Board. He retired almost 20 years ago as chief engineer of WAFB-TV in Baton Rouge, where he had been the television station's engineering backbone for nearly 40 years, the culmination of a lifelong love of broadcast electronics, which included stints as a business owner, first of C and C Radio and Television in the 1950s and in the 1970s, of Futronics, a forerunner of modern cable television. Bill is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Dee; a sister, Gloria McGirk and her husband, Sam; three sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne and Diane Comeaux, Tommy and Emmy Comeaux, and Paul Comeaux and Molly Parsons; two daughters, Valarie Perez and Patti Pecoraro; six grandchildren, Chris Comeaux, Amber Comeaux Borne and her husband, Jason, Tiffany Comeaux Reed and her husband, Ben, Marcus Comeaux, Haley Perez and Jessica Perez; three great-grandchildren, Aidan, Chloe and Liam Borne; and nephews, Howard Mixon and his wife, Phyllis, and Kirk Mixon. Bill was also survived by his faithful Jack Russell terrier, Saint. He was preceded in death by his parents, P.W. "Crit" Comeaux and Georgia "Jayne" Leteff Comeaux. In lieu of flowers, the family asks mourners to contribute to their favorite charity in Bill's memory. A memorial service at will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Tuesday, March 10, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
