Andy moved to Baton Rouge in 1957 where he married his wife Priscilla in 1979 and worked as a surveyor, traveling throughout the United States for his trade. His love of everything Disney was well known leading him and Priscilla on annual trips to Orlando, FL, making it his happiest place on earth. The enjoyment of traveling on family vacations, led him to plan and record everything for future posterity. He further cherished his lifelong friends Dannie (Maggie) Maddie, and George (Allene) Freeman. In addition to spending personal time with them, and being well respected musicians, Andy spent countless hours following Danny and George around to their performances where he would assume the role as their roadie.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Priscilla F. Shear; three children: Wayne Shear (Rhonda, daughter Brittany), Danna Wooten, and Diana Cason; and sister-in-law, Carole Shear. He is also survived by two nieces: Rhonda Porche (Leslie, son Cody) and Patricia Oxley (Dave); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Elmer and Vivian Irene Shear; and two brothers: Charles Carmen Shear and Jon Michael Shear.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022, from 2pm until 4pm, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Andy’s memory to the American Heart Association.
