William "Bill" Jason Reid

William “Bill” J. Reid passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022, in his home in Baton Rouge, LA, at the age of 82. Bill was a graduate from Hammond High. He was in the Navy and served in the Pacific during the Vietnam War. During his naval career, he and his family enjoyed traveling and seeing America as he was transferred from duty stations. After retiring from the Navy, he moved his family back home to Louisiana and worked in the refining/chemical industry. He was an active member of St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church since its inception. Bill also served with the church’s usher society. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club. He enjoyed cooking, camping, wood working, gardening and was an avid bee keeper. Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Marty, whom he was married to for 60 years; children, Ingrid Reid Ali and husband, Abdelhakeem, and Chris Reid, and wife, Missy; grandchildren, Omar, Sami, Hana and husband, John, Jessica and Brandon; great-grandchild, John Gregory; brother, Ricky Reid; and many nephews and nieces and their children. Bill is preceded in death by his father, Hildreth “Mark” Murbois Reid; mother, Eva Mae Gary; brother, Joe Reid; and sister, Mary Kate LeTard. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, from 11:00am until the time of funeral services at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
