William Johnson Fort IV 1936-2017

"Billy was born August 30, 1936 to Margaret and William J. Fort III in Baton Rouge and passed away June 6, 2017.  He is predeceased by his parents, his daughter Laura Fort Chenevert (Kay). Billy is survived by the love of his life Billie Jean Branch Fort, to whom he was married for 61 years, his son William Johnson (Johnny) Fort V (Jennifer), his granddaughter Sharon Nicole Fort, 2 great grandchildren Ali and Liam, step grandchildren Savannah and Lacey, son-in-law Peter Chenevert.  Billy was a graduate of University High and attended Louisiana State University. He married Billie Jean Branch in 1956. Worked for the DOTD until he retired in 1987. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a founding member of the 2-oclock hunting club. He loved gardening and sharing with neighbors. He was a staunch LSU football fan who supported his team by traveling to both home and away games in their RV. Billy loved his family, outdoors and LSU football.   There will be a celebration of his life service at Grace Episcopal Church in St Francisville, Monday, June 12, 2017, at 11:00 am and burial in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the Jackson Hall.  Pallbearers: Peter Chenevert, David Floyd, Kenneth Ray Gill, William Helm, Joseph Nicolosi and Sonny Suggs.  Honorary Pallbearers: Lytle Matkins, Dr. William E. Weldon, Dr. Williams Davis Wall.
