It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William David Mansfield, Jr., who left us on October 27, 2025. Born on October 26, 1934, he led an impactful life full of exceptional achievements and joyous moments.
He was a man of many facets. Intelligent, caring, and fun-loving, he was a true renaissance man. Known for his insightful advice, the one that resonates strongly was "Don't sweat the little stuff. And its all little stuff". He was a well-respected Chemical Engineer, who made his mark by publishing several scholarly articles and inventing numerous patented processes. His global reputation as an expert in his field will remain unmatched.
Beyond his professional realm, he was a lover of life and full of curiosity. Whether it was a get-together, Cajun food, or the enjoyment of a good glass of scotch, he embraced it all. He was an avid hunter, making friends across three continents on his ventures. His enthusiastic embrace of life’s offerings will forever be part of his legacy.
He was the beloved husband to Jeri Ann Flynn and the late Elizabeth Ann "Zanne" Mansfield. He is survived by his children: daughter Marty Mansfield and spouse, Glen Woodard, son William David Mansfield III and wife Cyl Mansfield, stepsons Thomas Flynn, Steven Flynn, and Ethan Flynn, and stepdaughter Melinda Flynn. His grandchildren, Jessica Kirk, Adam Miller, Hannah Secrist, Sarah Santiny, Robert Pontureri, Conner Mansfield, Morgan Kunkel, and Madeline Mansfield also survive him, as does his sister, Eliska Cowan.
We remember those who preceded him in passing: his mother Martha Mansfield, his father William David Mansfield, his first wife Elizabeth Ann "Zanne" Mansfield, his daughter Laura Miller, his son Michael James "Mike" Mansfield and his granddaughter Kylie Anne Morris. Their memories will continue to live on with us.
