William Thomas McLin, Jr. "Bill"

William Thomas McLin, Jr. “Bill”, was born on February 27, 1933, & passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the age of 91. He was a native of Erwinville, LA, & a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Thomas served in the US Army & was honorably discharged after serving in the Korean War. Being in the military, Thomas wasn’t able to see his daughter for the first time until she was six months old. He entered the welding industry where he was highly respected in his trade for over 48 yrs. He along with his son, Bruce, owned & operated RTR for over 25 yrs., until his retirement in 2007. Thomas faithfully served as an usher at St. Anthony Catholic Church, where he was a parishioner for 65 yrs. His relationship with Christ & deep rooted faith was evident by his devotion to prayer, daily bible readings, & applying scriptures to everyday life. Many refer to him as a “jack of all trades”. If he couldn’t find a tool, he would make one. Thomas is survived by his loving wife of 70 yrs., Clydia D. McLin; children, Debbie M. Winters (Steve), & Bruce McLin (Martha); grandchildren, Amber Gautreaux (Mike), Jason Winters (Angie), Brooke Tarver (Jeremy), Shanna Hubble (Jason), & Dustin McLin; 12 great-grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren & one on the way; sister, Annie Mae Pascalin; & a host of other loving family members & friends. Thomas is preceded in death by his parents, William & Alice McLin; & brothers, Francis & J.C. McLin. Visitation will be at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 2305 Choctaw Dr., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, from 9:30am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am, celebrated by Pastor: Rev. Peter Hieu Quang Nguyen & Rev. Minh Hai Nguyen. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Bruce McLin, Dustin McLin, Jason Winters, Joe Ray Gauthier, Randall McLin, & Zackery McLin. Honorary pall bearers will be his longtime friend, Vince Serio, & L.J. Pascalin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Thomas’ memory to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
