Yvonne Marie Kyle

Yvonne graduated from Raceland High School in 1959 as class valedictorian. She then attended Loyola University and graduated as an RN from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in New Orleans. Yvonne was employed at ENT Hospital in New Orleans for many years and later found her niche in psychiatric nursing, specializing in chemical dependency. She was married in 1963 to William Glen Kyle, who predeceased her in 2009. Yvonne died at 8:20pm Tuesday, October 08, 2013, at The Carpenter House-St. Joseph Hospice. She was 72. Yvonne is survived by her daughter: Kara Shupe&husband Todd; her son: Kenny Kyle; sister: Wanda Moreland&husband Herbert; two grandchildren: Emma Marie Shupe and Kyle Finley Shupe. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ivy Joseph Martin&Marie Hernandez Martin. Yvonne absolutely loved having grandchildren and some of her happiest moments in recent years involved time spent with them. She and Bill especially loved traveling with their older grandchild, Emma, introducing her to new places, experiences and learning opportunities in the process. Yvonne loved being with her grandson, Kyle, who has autism and is non-verbal. They developed their own form of communication, and loved each other immensely. Yvonne was a fantastic cook, a prolific reader, did lovely needlework and enjoyed time spent with friends and co-workers. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Families Helping Families of Greater Baton Rouge or The Carpenter House-St. Joseph Hospice.
