Agnes was a God-fearing woman and a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church in Baytown, Texas, for more than 50 years. She cherished her family and friends and was very active her entire life. During World War II, with her beloved husband in the service and a baby girl at home, she volunteered to help the war effort. Later, she volunteered at the Baytown Civic Center and helped visit and feed the “homebound” with her Sunday school class.
After her husband, Jack, was severely wounded in the war, she worked for Sears and Bayfair. She courageously raised three wonderful children and held a full-time job, while caring for her husband. The last job she held was with Bayfair in the 1960s. The day her son, Bill, returned home from the Vietnam War; she quit her job and never returned.
One of Agnes’ favorite hobbies was playing a game of Skip-Bo cards. She didn’t play just to pass the time, she played to win! She was also an avid reader, in which she would read approximately 4-6 books a week for many years. Time with her children was a priority. When Laverne, James, and Bill were children, Jack and Agnes took then on a family vacation every year. Agnes was a full-time wife and mother.
After the loss of her beloved husband, Jack, the next 26 years were spent transitioning from the comfort and security of a marriage, to a life of total independence. Her transition was nothing less than amazing. Agnes had a spirit that soared like the wings of a butterfly. She gave all she had of herself and desired to meet all of her family’s needs. She was beautiful in every way that a woman could be. Her touch was soft and golden, and her eyes as blue as the ocean. Our love will never end for her. Precious Ma-maw, you will forever be missed. We love you.
Pallbearers will be: Ken Moses, Jerry Moses, Jim Walker, Mike Clark, Larry Barnhill, and John Bergstesser, IV. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Paul McClanahan, Ron Moses, Nicolas Moses, John Bergstresster, III, Rylan Bergstresser, and Josh Hargrove.
