

Alice Alegra Bickley Thompson, 95, was born January 12, 1916 to Samuel and Bessie Bickley in Cash, TX and went to be with her Lord, Sunday, February 13, 2011. Alice was a native of Denton, TX, where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She lived in Sheffield, AL for many years. In 1959 she returned to Denton where she worked in retail for over 30 years. In 2003 she moved to LaPorte to be closer to her family. There she acquired a step family that she loved as well. Known as Mrs. T to her friends and Mommy Alice to her family, her sweet and gentle spirit touched all who surrounded her. She loved sewing, croquet, knitting and shared her skills with many. Her passion was gardening. She had flowers growing all year. First in her life were her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Bryon Thompson; brothers, Samuel Bickley and James Bickley; and sister, Dorothy Bickley.
She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Smith and husband, Bill; granddaughter, Andrea Smith and husband, Chris Lowe; grandson, Devin Smith and wife, Brandie; great grandchildren, Aiden, Kinlee, and Cole; sister, Mary Grandey; nieces; and friends.
Her family will receive friends Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Navarre Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mike Proctor of St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Baytown officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarcrest Cemetery in Baytown.
