With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beautiful baby boy Augustine Alexander Ortiz, affectionately known as Augie. He was born on February 2, 2025, in Webster, Texas, to parents Ann Garrett and Jose Ortiz. Although his life was brief, he touched so many lives with his beautiful eyes, infectious giggles, and happy demeanor. Augie was a Momma’s boy and his sister’s pride and joy.
He was crawling anywhere he wanted to go and had begun standing. Augie loved nothing more than being in the bouncer at his daycare, where he could jump. His family would often joke that they were surprised he hadn’t hit his head on the ceiling because of how hard he would be bouncing. Augie found comfort in his Momma’s arms while she sang Hop Little Bunny Hop Hop Hop by Ms. Rachel. He also loved bath time where he would splash the entire time. Augie had just begun babbling and saying ‘mama’ and ‘dada’. Although our hearts are broken here on earth, we know that our little love is in Heaven reunited with his grandmother (Queenie) who passed away just two days after him.
Augie leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his parents, Ann Garrett and Jose Ortiz; his maternal grandparents Robert and Diana Bradshaw and Randy and Lois Busch; his paternal grandparents, Jose Fernando and Estefania Ortiz, his siblings, Emily, Abigail and Susan; as well as his extended family and close family friends.
Ann would like to give special thanks and love to Ms. Karla, Ms. Angelica, and all the staff at God’s Little Angels Daycare who loved Augie like their own son. He was so loved on, doted on, and cared for by everyone there. As they would lovingly call him, Chunky Chunky. Every day he went, he was always so happy and had a huge smile on his face.
