

Charles Weldon Chandler, 78, of Baytown was born March 28, 1930 in Farrar and passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 in a Pasadena hospital. He was a longtime member of 1st Baptist Church, where he was a Sunday School teacher and a Deacon. He served on the board of directors for the Baytown Sheltering Arms and retired from Exxon Chemical with over 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orbrie and Lois Chandler and brother, Gene Chandler and is survived by his wife, Nellie Chandler of Baytown; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Albert Mitchell of Pasadena; grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Shelly Mitchell of Houston and Debra and Bryon Vandergriff of Cypress-Fairbanks; great grandchildren, Abigail Mitchell and Charles Weldon Mitchell; and longtime friend, Faye Rhea of Baytown and her family.
His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Saturday, May 10, 2008 starting at 9:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 10:00 a.m. with his grandson Christopher Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the New Hope Cemetery near Jewett in Limestone County.
