Claudia Allene Nanny Davis

Claudia Allene ""Nanny"" Davis formerly of Baytown passed away on April 11, 2014 in a Webster hospital at the age of 99. Claudia, known by most as ""Nanny"", was born on January 21, 1915 in Woodson, Texas to the late Charlie and Veronica Abraham. Nanny's claim to fame (in her words) was being a dorm mother at the University of Mississippi School of Nursing. She was happiest working in her garden and doing a variety of needlework. Nanny was a member of Highlands Baptist Church of La Marque, and through her many years on earth witnessing almost a century of change, Nanny's faith was constant. She truly loved the Lord, her country and her Astros.

Nanny was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Victor Kenneth Davis, Sr.; daughter, Mary Ann Jones; son, Victor Kenneth Davis, Jr.; sister, Nita Qualtrough and brothers, Warren, Glenn and Carl Abraham. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Johnny Steven Davis and Carl Dunn Davis and his wife, Pearl; sisters, Doris McGee and Sami Bowman; several nieces and nephews; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Navarre Funeral Home in Baytown. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Eddie Norris officiating. The family is honoring Nanny's wishes that she be cremated.
