

Emmett Cole Harris, 82, of Baytown, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2011 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 16, 1929 in Tenaha, TX to his late parents, Nettie Elizabeth Dukes and Ernest Cole Harris. EC lived in Baytown for the last 47 years. He was a member of Maranatha Church in Mont Belvieu for the last 37 years. EC was a retired Utilities Supervisor at Bayer Corp. and a U. S. Navy veteran, serving in the pacific aboard a submarine. He was an avid and skilled athlete, excelling in football, basketball, fast pitch softball, tennis, ping pong, golf and bowling. He also enjoyed coaching Little League Baseball for many years in the North League in Baytown.
EC was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Floyd, Boyd, Coleen, Lucille, Louise Rodgers, Beth Dennis and his infant grandson James Balmes.
He leaves many behind to cherish his memory; his wife Kaye of Baytown; sons, Michael Wayne Harris of Butte, Mt; Darrell Keith Harris and wife Kim of Houston; Keith D'Wayne Harris and wife Sandra of Houston; Step-son Steve Cartin and wife Sandra of Martinez, Ga.; daughters, Cathy Erickson and husband Eddie of Baytown, and Karen Mouton of Mont Belvieu. Grandchildren, Ashley Stone, Rebekka Cartin, Rees Cartin, Rachel and husband Dustin Thomas, Brandi Erickson, Shauna Erickson, John Hanson, Kayli Sanders, Marshall Erickson, Talon Erickson, Bayli Erickson, Taryn Balmes, Tiffany and husband Hunter Killingsworth, Tiara Balmes, Leslie Cerquera, Kenny Cerquera, Keith Harris and Kaleb Harris. Great grandchildren; Jonah Thomas, Madison Hanson and Carlos Cerquera plus many special nieces, nephews, family members and friends including Barbara Scheller, Gayle Creel, Bill Carlson and Dustin Fleming.
EC's family would like to say a special "thank you" to A-Med Hospice for their excellent care the last few months, especially Nickie and Ranay.
