Esther Vasquez Coy

Esther was born to Catarino Vasquez and Sally Vasquez, February 15, 1951, in San Marcos, Texas. She graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1969 and received an Associate Degree from Lee College Baytown, Tx. She married Joel H. Coy in 1972, and they made their home together in Baytown, Tx. Together they raised two children.

She is survived by: Joel Coy, daughter Linda Marie Coy, son Richard Gerald Coy, and grandson Coltrane Catarino Coy. She leaves to cherish her memory, brother, Catarino Vasquez (Cat) Jr. (spouse) Tina, Sisters Anita Acevedo, Beatrice Charlton, Mary Cassity (spouse) Pat, numerous nieces and nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Special friends Rita and Ruben Gomez and Jose Acevedo. She was preceded in death by Catarino and Sally Vasquez (parents), and John Charlton (brother-in-law).

Esther worked as an Acquisitions Assistant and Library Technician for Lee College for 22 years. She enjoyed watching game shows, QVC channel, doing Jigsaw and word search puzzles, playing card and board games with her children and grandson, Coltrane. She also enjoyed occasional trips to the casino to play the penny slot machines.

She was also actively involved in St. John’s Catholic Church as an Usher and Catholic Daughters organization. She was a very caring and generous person to many different organizations and charities.

A Rosary is scheduled for Mon. Oct. 21 at 6:00pm at Earthman Funeral Chapel 3919 Garth Rd. Baytown. A Catholic mass will be performed on Tues. at 10:00 am at St. John’s Catholic Church 800 W Baker Rd. Baytown Tx.

Burial will be performed at Sterling-White Cemetery 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Road, Highlands Tx 77562. A reception will follow at St. John’s Catholic Church Activity Building. Father Brinkman will officiate the ceremony.

The family would also like to thank her sister Anita and her granddaughter Valerie, sisters-in-law Alma Salinas, Dahlia Coy and Anna Coy for their help cooking for Esther and Joel. Cynthia Gilbert for helping care for Esther in her time of need.
