Fred served in the US Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper and infantryman. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He worked for the Department of Defense for 20 years and then owned a HVAC Business, Hans Refrigeration. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lillian, Juanita, and Margaret, and his wife of 23 years, Margaret Hans.
He is survived by his son Richard, of Katy, daughter Deborah Barr of Cypress, stepson Pat Greever of Dallas, grandsons Jonathan Hans and Christopher Barr, brother Milton of Highlands, brother Gordon of Beach City, plus nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 26, 2020, at Navarre Funeral Home, 2444 Rollingbrook Dr., Baytown, TX 77521. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2020 for the family. Private interment will be held at Houston National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to The American Heart Association or Leader Dogs for The Blind.
