Frida Leonor Blandon, 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 3, 2026. She was born on April 27, 1936, in Bluefield, Nicaragua, to Pedro Vasconcelos and Sara Vogel.
Frida was a very strong woman whose life reflected resilience, determination, and unwavering love for her family. Through every season of life, she carried herself with quiet strength and dignity, always putting others before herself.
Gifted with her hands and blessed with a natural talent for crafting, she could see something once and recreate it beautifully. Sewing, crocheting, knitting, and gardening brought her joy, and she poured her heart into everything she made. Her home was always filled with warmth, from her handmade creations to the comforting aroma of fresh bread baking in the oven.
She was especially known for her delicious traditional Nicaraguan dishes. Her rondon, sal picón, soril, and queque de quequisque, pupusas, bon, gallo pinto were family favorites that brought everyone together around the table. Cooking was her love language, and she made sure no one ever left her home hungry.
Frida was also incredibly serviceable and generous. She had a heart for those in need, especially in Nicaragua. She would lovingly prepare food and give away clothing to families in need, never hesitating to share what she had. Her compassion and quiet acts of kindness touched many lives and reflected the depth of her caring spirit.
Frida’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She is survived by her loving daughters: Sobeida Blandon; Marisela Koene and her spouse, Thomas Koene; and Frida Adrian and her spouse, Lee Adrian. She is also survived by her sons: Ramiro Enrique Blandon and his spouse, Johana Blandon; and Ramiro Blandon and his spouse, Esther Blandon. She leaves behind 19 cherished grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom will forever carry her love and memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her sisters Angela Rivera, and Sandra Rivera.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Julio Enrique Blandon; her father, Pedro Vasconcelos; her mother, Sara Vogel; her brothers, Ronald Vasconcelos, Arnoldo Vasconcelos, Amilkar Vasconcelos, and Alvaro Carcache; and her sisters, Erika Lacayo and Celia Vado.
Frida’s life was a testament to strength, devotion, creativity, generosity, resilience, and unconditional love. Her hands created beauty, her kitchen created memories, and her heart created a legacy of service that will live on through generations.
A private visitation for Frida will be held Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
