George was born to Elmer and Finnie Wingate on July 19, 1934 in Baytown, Texas. He graduated from Baytown Robert E. Lee High School in 1953.
He is survived by his son Terry Wingate and wife Jo Ann, daughter Tanya Anderson and husband Larry, son Tony Wingate; grandkids Blake Anderson, Brian Anderson, Justin Anderson, Tyler Wingate, Gabriel Longoria, Jackie Vann.
He was preceded in death by his father Elmer Wingate, mother Finnie Wingate, brother Horace Wingate, and sister Mary Cain.
George worked as a Conductor for Union Pacific Railroad for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
